For the past… god, eighteen weeks? I don’t know anymore! …DangerGrove (me on vocals and Eli Grove on beats) has been taking part in a series of challenges, testing ourselves against other duos. We did a song with a guest on the hook, an adaptation of an existing song, a tribute to a specific fandom, our best attempt at a hit single and radio jingle, and now we’re in the final round.
The challenge this time was to make a kids’ song, and I started off making a kid-style song I’ve had playing in my head for years. Every time I realize I’m not taking care of myself, sitting with a aching empty stomach for hours for no reason, I hear this little refrain. It’s simple and it’s true!
But like… when we expanded it for this challenge… I think I coloured outside of the lines a little bit. So it starts off with a short song for kids, then there’s a pause for you to scramble to hit stop, and then if you don’t, it goes into the adult emotions you’ve come to expect from us during this competition. It’s a bummer! But it has a glimmer of hope. Maybe.
Part of the way the entries are scored in this competition is factoring in a popular ranking, and that’s where you come in. Our adoring public. Please follow the link below and listen to as many of the 5 entries as you have time, and click on the stars beneath each SoundCloud player to select a rating from one to ten. If you only vote for one or two, it won’t be counted, so as many as possible would be great.
(Even though it’s billed as a kids’ song competition, I recommend previewing these entries in private before testing them out on actual kids! I can vouch for the safety & comfort of “Y” by LexicOhm, and “Wash Your Hands” by Pretty, Good, but the rest,…. I’m not so sure, that’s all.)

I’d love it if you would rate our song very high and all the others not so high, even if they’re good! But obviously you should vote with your conscience, and maybe that’s not what your conscience says to do, because it sucks. Sorry if your conscience sucks but I guess please go ahead and vote anyway.
Thank you, whatever you choose to do.
