beat demos

In the thirty-ish years I’ve been producing my own beats, I’ve made a lot of beginnings that have remained in search of their destinations. These beats span from the whole history of my creative life basically, and I’d be pulling your leg if I pretended I don’t still have high hopes for every single one of them to become a dope song that stands alone or as part of a project.

I’m tired of just keeping them hidden away on old crumbling hard drives and listening to them myself every 22 months when I need to feel bad about something. So they’re going to live here for potential collaborators to peruse. Some of them I’d rather barf than part with, but some of them could use fresh blood. Or I might just snap out of it and finish them all myself. We’ll see!

Oh just a word to the wise – I make beats that I’m proud of, I might even say I can produce records, but I am NOT capable of mixing audio worth a damn and these works in progress reflect that. Listen on headphones with a generous spirit and the bass too high.

“FREAK OF LIFE” – 77 BPM
“SLEEPDRUM” – 103 BPM

“PROMENADE” – the arrangement is bad but the bones are good; this was the first beat I ever made that I kinda felt was TOO good for me to rap on yet – 86 BPM
